The ABACUS team has hands-on experience of advising on major construction, infrastructure and EPC projects involving foreign contractors and international consultants. These include the construction of reservoirs and hydraulic structures, and the reconstruction and construction of canals, among them the Takhiatash canal system, Khazarbag and Akkapchigay. The team has also worked on the UzGTL, Navoiyazot and Kandym–Khauzak–Shady projects in the industrial and oil and gas sectors.
The work draws on the mechanisms of the FIDIC Red Book, Yellow Book and Silver Book, as well as adapted forms of contract. The team handles Particular Conditions, Variations, Extensions of Time, additional costs and adjustments to the Contract Price, claims and contractual notices, and issues of delay, defects, taking over, payment and termination.
Particular emphasis is placed on testing FIDIC terms against the mandatory provisions of Uzbek law. This makes it possible to assess not only the contractual risks but also whether the mechanisms provided for in the contract are enforceable in practice.
